A Simple House Blessing Ritual

We chose a spiritual prayer. As we said the prayer we lit dried sacred white sage to vanish any bad spirits or energy from the house, which is a Native American Indian practice.

The prayer for the house:

God, bless this house and all who live here. Fill this dwelling with an ambiance of peace, prosperity, health, happiness, harmony and love. Let this space shine with divine light and beauty and provide a warm, comfortable haven from the world. May only beings that are kind-hearted and well-intentioned enter here. May nature's spirits feel welcome and live with us as friends. May all who enter here receive what they need, and feel richly blessed with their heart's desires.

Blessing of Land or House

Our help is in the name of the Lord.
Who has made heaven and earth.

Let us pray.

Lord God almighty, bless this land (or this house). May health, chastity, conquest of sin, virtue, humility, goodness, and meekness flourish here. May the law be observed in its fullness, and thanks be given to God the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And may this blessing always remain on this land (or this house) and on those who live in it, now and forever and ever.

Amen.

(And it is sprinkled with holy water.)

Another Blessing of a Home

Our help is in the name of the Lord.
Who has made heaven and earth.

Let us pray.

We humbly beg of you, God the Father almighty, to bless and sanctify this home, those who live in it and everything in it. Be so kind as to fill it with all good things. Grant them, Lord, abundance of blessings from heaven and the substance of life from the richness of the earth. Direct the longings of their prayer to the fruits of Your mercy. Be so kind, then, as to bless and sanctify this home at our coming in, just as You blessed the home of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. May Your angels of light live within the walls of this house, and guard it and all who live in it, through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A Short Wiccan House Blessing

Prepare: A fragrant candle, some incense or smudge

Stick, and a dish for the holy/blessed water.

(Minister): “Welcome, God/Goddess, to this home.”

(A candle is lit as the minister continues.)

“We thank you, God/Goddess, for the gift of fire, for its warmth and light. May this candle be a sign of your gift to us and may your light fill this home and our hearts.”

(Water is poured into a small dish. The minister prays over the water.)

“Accept our thanks, God/Goddess, for the gift of water. May its sprinkling be a blessing for those who live here and may those who come and go from this place be protected from all harm.”

(Using the holy water, the minister sprinkles the entrance to the home with the blessed water.)

(Wave the smoke of the smudge stick through each room, all participants should move inside and through each room with the minister as he/she continues to bless each room in the home.)

God/Goddess we thank you for your blessings upon this home and all who dwell here. So Mote it be!

Smudging Prayer

“Negativity that invades my sacred place, I banish you away

with the light of my grace. You have no hold or power here, For

I stand and face you with no fear. Be gone forever, for this I say.

This is my Sacred Place and you will obey”!
